- Norton AntiVirus sends an email alert message to the specified recipients
- when the following virus and system events occur:
- <UL>
- <LI><STRONG>Infection: </STRONG>Virus detected in an email.
- <LI><STRONG>Startup: </STRONG>Scan server started.
- <LI><STRONG>Configuration Change: </STRONG>Modification made to setup or scan policy.
- <LI><STRONG>LiveUpdate: </STRONG>Virus definitions files have been updated.
- <LI><STRONG>Shutdown: </STRONG>Scan server shut down normally.
- <LI><STRONG>Halted: </STRONG>Scan server halted abnormally, usually the result of a system error.
- <LI><STRONG>Disk Full: </STRONG>If the disk is full, try clearing the Quarantine or specifying a Working folder on another drive (in General options).

- The Infection alert is based on a message template file that reports the virus
- detected, the infected file, the sender, and the intended recipient. You
- can specify another text file if you want to send a custom message. The
- system alerts cannot be modified.

- If you change options in a panel, click Save at the bottom of the panel. When
- changes are completed for all panels, click Reload at the bottom of
- any options panel to reset the Scan Server with all of the new settings.

- <DD>Check to turn alerting on.
- <DT><STRONG>Message Template File</STRONG>
- <DD>Text template used to generate virus alert
- messages. It includes variables for the name of the virus detected,
- the name of the infected file, the sender, and the intended recipient.
- <DT><STRONG>From</STRONG>
- <DD>All alert messages have this name as the sender. You
- can use a generic name, such as Norton AntiVirus Email Alert,
- or specify a legitimate email address in case you want recipients
- to be able to respond.
- <DT><STRONG>To</STRONG>
- <DD>Enter the email addresses, separated by commas, to whom you
- want the alert messages delivered. For example, RAY@MYIDEA.NET,DAVE@EPIPLEXIS.COM
- <DT><STRONG>Subject</STRONG>
- <DD>Subject field of the email alerts.
- <DT><STRONG>SMTP Server</STRONG>
- <DD>Address of the SMTP server from which the email alerts are sent. The recipients
- for the emails need not be on this physical SMTP server, but should
- be accessible from it.
- <DT><STRONG>SMTP Server Port</STRONG>
- <DD>Port the SMTP server uses for mail requests. The default
- value for this port is 25, but you can use any valid port
- that the SMTP server expects to receive mail.
